The Watersprite Film Festival is the largest international student film festival in the world and is recruiting a committee for its 16th year!

Watersprite is run by students for students. Anglia Ruskin and Cambridge University join forces to put on one of the highlights of the creative calendar. The festival runs for three days in March, and our student team prepares for it across the year. Being a part of Watersprite is an amazing opportunity for anyone interested in careers in filmmaking, marketing, events management, education and outrage, and the creative world! See below for more information.

ABOUT US - CORE VALUES OF THE FESTIVAL:
CELEBRATING ACHIEVEMENTS IN FILM: Our awards programme celebrates the achievements of student filmmakers from all over the world, receiving and judging short films, to celebrate the winners at our glamorous awards ceremony hosted by Amazon Studios. In 2024 we received over 1700 short films from 94 countries!

DEMYSTIFYING THE INDUSTRY: our events programme is an exciting way to demystify the industry and make it more accessible to anyone interested in the creative world. We run a series of talks, screenings, networking and gala events to show what the film industry is all about.

We are now recruiting for the Head of Department roles. The Departments are listed below:

● Head of Awards (perfect for film lovers, the awards team judges short films and curates the festival screenings).
● Head of Events (this role is suited to anyone interested in the creative industry or loves running events and is interested in developing leadership skills and contacting industry speakers).
● Head of Ceremonies (Ideal for event lovers or people with hospitality experience, the ceremonies department runs our biggest gala events, the opening ceremony, and awards ceremonies).
● Head of Partnerships (this is great business experience, dealing with in-kind sponsors, pitching to businesses, and seeking new partners for the festival).
● Head of Communications (If you are interested in careers in advertisement or marketing, this is the department for you. Coms runs our social media and is in charge of producing promotional videos, blogs and newsletters).
● Head of Video Production (For students interested in tech! You will be making trailers, in charge of live streaming, and shooting promotional videos).
● Festival Designer (if you are interested in art and design, this is an amazing opportunity - the designer brings the vision of the festival to life and designs programmes, merchandise, and more).

Heading any one of these departments is a great way to gain CV experience, and will also give valuable leadership skills, allowing you to recruit and lead your own team.

It's an experience of a lifetime; you will get the chance to put on extraordinary events, meet filmmakers from around the world, attend socials and workshops with fellow film lovers, grow your professional network, and make friends with a great committee of dedicated and talented individuals! Watersprite has a huge network of alumni, many of whom have attributed the start of their careers to their experiences being on the committee.
