Le Cid is a timeless, tragi-comic classic. The modernity and openness of the text which resulted in its censure in seventeenth-century France are the very qualities which have allowed its appeal to endure into the twenty-first century. Following the success of Madame Bovary – an original adaptation by Henriette Baker which toured France in 2004 – this young company of francophile theatre-lovers is delighted to be able to bring Le Cid to British audiences in the original French.
