So many hopes, so many fears, and all those oh so nears. Join the ecstacy and agony of being in love and following England in World Cups. July 4th 1990, the World Cup semi-final, England vs West Germany. In Majorca, Bill and Monica are on holiday attempting to rekindle their troubled marriage. Monica dreams of an affair with Gary Lineker, but, in fact, she is seeing Bill's friend, travel writer Dan Hudson. Things get spicy when Dan unexpectedly arrives at their hotel, and, together, in the company of Bill's colleague Ian and German tourist rep, Birgetta, they settle down to watch the game on TV... Through 90 tense minutes, excruciating extra-time and the inevitable penalty shoot-out, the drama on the football field is matched by the drama in the hotel room.
