Lent Week 7
Set in the vaudeville theatres of 1920s America, 'Gypsy' tells the story of Mama Rose and her quest to find theatrical success for her two daughters, June and Louise. The problem is, that whilst June has all the talent, Louise can only make costumes.
When June leaves her mother to make her own journey into show business, Rose turns her attentions to Louise, and she will do whatever it takes to make her daughter a star...
'Gypsy' is one of the all-time classic pieces of American musical theatre. Its book by Arthur Laurents is an brilliant piece of comic/dramatic writing, and the score and lyrics by Jule Styne and Stephen Sondheim have been widely celebrated since the musical's first performance in 1959.
This is a rare opportunity to witness one of the greatest musicals of all time, right here in Cambridge.
