Shadwell Opera presents the contemporary opera, SIREN SONG by JONATHAN DOVE, with a libretto by NICK DEAR.
In an innovative new staging, making ground-breaking use of Great St. Mary's, this opera will transport you back to 1994, into a voyeuristic tale of innocence, ideal love and the power of lust. It is a chance to hear the bewitching strains of the sirens and survive. Davey, a young seaman, falls in love with the beautiful Diana, but as they grow closer, tragedy threatens. Will they ever realise their dreams?
Jonathan Dove is renowned as Britain's foremost composer of opera, writing in an accessible style that combines rhythmic drive with humour, beauty and seriousness of purpose. Shadwell Opera invites you to an introduction to the best of contemporary opera.
