This play offers a striking and, at some moments, humorous social commentary on pre, during, and post Civil War Spain under Franco.
We follow the lives of four families across three generations living in the same apartment block, and watch as they encounter each other on the landing outside their apartments. Vallejo offers us the all the archetypal characters necessary for a Spanish drama. The gossiping spinsters, the ideological Urbano, the idealist Fernando, wealthy Elvira, and beautiful Carmina, and many more.
