Summer Vacation
"I’m too black, but I'm too white. I’m too much, but I'm never ever enough. For any of you."
We’ve all felt other at some point in our lives, whether it’s for our race, gender, sexuality, class, or something else entirely. We have all felt like the outsider at some point. Other centres on a group of eight first-year university students who know this feeling all too well.
This original musical explores what it means to be black and mixed-race in today's Britain. The show follows snippets of 18-year-old Eilidh's everyday life as she attempts to connect more with both sides of her heritage; but instead of finding answers about her own identity, she's only left with more questions. Other highlights the importance of friendship, solidarity, and empathy when you’re learning how to exist in an increasingly divided world that makes it easy to feel other.
