The Lesson is a searching, alarming one-act play that looks at automatic power placed in the wrong hands. A twisted and haunting take on the education system, this is the teacher-pupil dynamic at its most gritty, gruelling and self-aware. Ionesco’s play is a darkly comedic take on the dangers of indoctrination and the depths of what it means to mould someone in your hands. No-one leaves this play unscathed.
