Hail and hearken, gentle audience! Have you heard the ancient legends of King Arthur? Of Camelot, and the Knights of the Round Table? Of their Quest for the Holy Grail? Of Lancelot and Guinevere’s forbidden love? Of Morgan Le Fay, and Merlin the wizard? Well, there are many more stories still to be told - especially the ones we haven’t made up yet…
The Cambridge Impronauts present The Once and Improvised King, an all-new cycle of Arthurian legends made up each night based on audience suggestions. An entirely improvised retinue of knights, ladies, enchanters, trusty squires, wise elders, incognito noble youths raised in obscurity, champions, fools, hermits, marvels and monsters shall embark upon a quest of the audience’s choosing. Battles shall be fought, things shall be found, and loves shall be loved. And maybe we’ll fulfil one or two ancient prophecies along the way. That happens, apparently.

Roll up! Roll up! For the drama of a lifetime with the travelling troupe of theatrical troglodytes the Cambridge Impronauts! Their all-new show puts you, the common-or-garden audience member, in ultimate control of the action, as you watch an improvised murder mystery story with one horrifying twist – you can decide who the killer is! The mild-mannered vicar? The eccentric billionaire? A random bystander? All in your hands. Swing the play’s drama in whichever direction you wish and let the drama unfold. Will the killer of your choice be caught by our heroes and/or bystanders? Continue their spree? Or live to terrorise another day/night/dusk/elevensies? You’ll have to come along and see, in the latest and ‘greatest’ (the author, 2018) show from Cambridge’s oldest and best-loved improvisation troupe!

If you are reading this then I implore you to stop now and read no further. For if you are in a chipper mood, or even just mildly content, I fear there would be nothing more dampening to your happy life than to see this show. Our story follows a group of innocent children who have just lost their parents in a terrible accident. I wish I could tell you that these orphans were relocated to a new home with a loving guardian where they lived happily ever after, but I am afraid I cannot. For if you have ever lived in the real world, as I have, you would find it a most improvable place - A phrase which here means a place where Improvisers make up very funny drama on the spot from audience suggestions. Their scenes will tell the tale of poor orphans, quirky guardians, secret organisations, hidden conspiracies and dastardly villains. Oh no, do not go and see this show... for it is sure to be A Series of Improv-able Events.

Every story and secret is provided by you, the audience, to create a performance never seen before and never to be seen again.
