Illness (Alzheimer’s)

AUDITIONS are now OPEN, we are looking for an actress to play the part of Madeline in Strangers at the Corpus Playroom 7-10th of May!

Strangers is a poetic and lyrical new drama with some light comedy. An intimate two-hander about the human need for love and connection in an uncertain world.

‘Life is precious. Life is finite’

What happens when a vital bond is threatened or cut off through illness?

Strangers is about a mother and daughter, Madeline and Martha. Martha (20’s) doesn’t want to be alone, experiencing the trials and errors of the dating world for the first time, armed with a trusty pair of her mums old cowboy boots and a birthday cake for her new boyfriend. She is unable to face the reality of losing Madeline (50’s), who is too young to be in the stages of early onset Alzheimer’s. Madeline is grappling with her memory but is fiercely aware of her daughters experiences on an intuitive level.

Both women have become strangers to each other, figuring out how to love and how to express themselves, clinging to the necessary need for fantasy and delusion.
