mention of suicide
MESSIAH is a new play by Trinity College’s current Shaffer playwright in residence, Aisling Towl. We are really excited to be bringing this play to the stage for the first time and keen to work with a talented and committed company.
- Thu 13th Mar, 10:00–12:00, tbc
For assistant directors, this is a great opportunity to debut a part in a new play and work with a professional playwright. MESSIAH is dynamic, political and funny, taking inspiration from writers such as Lucy Prebble, Laura Wade and Mike Bartlett.
Script Content warning: mention of mental ill-health and suicide
Synopsis:
When Sophie lands a new job in parliament, it’s a chance to leave her past behind. Working as an assistant to a charismatic MP, she climbs the ranks as he rises meteorically from backbencher to leader of the opposition. But when scandal sweeps Westminster, Sophie is forced to choose between ambition and integrity. MESSIAH is a new play about power, corruption and what happens when the personal becomes political.
Important: Due to this play being set in London, it’s really important to us that both company and production team accurately reflects the diversity of this city. We are keen to work with as diverse a company as possible
