AD and/or Choreographer :
We’re looking for an Assistant Director and a Movement Choreographer , or perhaps one person who is both! The site at Binham offers an interesting space in which to bring the vision of the show to life. You would have an active role in rehearsals across the first two weeks of September, there is also scope for involvement in the cast if that’s something that would interest you!
This will be a collaborative process, in which you would work with the Directors, as well as leading smaller rehearsals (e.g. character work)
Any acting or dance/choreography experience would be great but is not a requirement - we’re ultimately looking for someone proactive and willing to get stuck into the exciting challenges presented by Binham Priory!
Availability: 1st - 21st September ideally - but get in touch if this isn’t quite possible
In your application please answer the following:
Which role are you applying for? If you’re applying to AD, would you like to be considered as an AD/Choreographer ?
There’s no right answer here - we’re happy to consider how best to structure the directorial/choreography team around the right people!
Why are you interested in the role?
Based on information about Ruddigore, the folk-inspired vision and the site, do you have any initial ideas?
What, if any, experience do you have relevant to the role?
(if not in theatre/directing, please tell me about any leadership/creative/other relevant experience you have). If you’re a choreographer and have examples of your work please include these.
What do you think is the most challenging part of the role and how would you aim to overcome it?
Assistant Musical Director and/or Rep
Sounds good so far? Then this is where you come in!
The role of Assistant Musical Director is to assist the Musical Director in teaching and rehearsing music with the cast and band and possibly also playing in the band for the shows. You will work closely with the directors and producers as well to ensure high overall production value. We are likely looking for someone with good piano skills to support the rehearsal process but do get in touch if you don’t consider yourself as a pianist as we are keen to work around the right people. I’m ultimately looking for someone proactive and willing to get stuck into the exciting challenges presented by a larger, outdoor production.
Availability: 1st - 21st September ideally - but get in touch if this isn’t quite possible (if you are applying as a rep, we may only be able to accommodate for the rehearsal period, unless you are also playing in the band for show week)
To apply for this role please email ruddigore@gands by 23:59 on Monday 7th April answering the following questions and any other relevant information or ideas:
Why are you interested in the AMD and/or rep role for Ruddigore?
What, if any, experience do you have relevant to the role? (if not in theatre, please tell me about any leadership/creative/other relevant experience you have).
What is your level of piano/other musical instruments that might be relevant to the band?
What’s your proudest moment in your musical life?
Front of House Manager
In a more unusual role for Cambridge Theatre, this is an opportunity to run a pop up theatre venue over the duration of the run. You would be responsible for a team managing parking, ticketing and ushers. This is a hands-on chance to run a team, liaising with the venue Duty Manager and the Technical Department to make this unusual show run smoothly. Due to the scope of the role the required time commitment has more wriggle room, and you would be needed in Norfolk between the 12th and 22nd September, but are welcome to arrive earlier as discussed with the Producers. Send us an email if you have any questions about what the role might entail!
In your application please cover the following:
What excites you about Ruddigore at Binham Priory
Why are you interested in joining us?!
What experience do you have that makes you think you’d be a good fit?
(coordinated a team before, stewarded at the ADC, just think you’re an organised and motivated person etc…..)
How you envision your role and what will you be looking for in your team
What are your particular strengths, where might you expect to need support
Company Manager
The Company Manager is a vital role that is central to the success of the show. This position has a strong focus on domestic responsibilities, making it well-suited for someone who thrives in a summer camp-like environment.
The core duties of the Company Manager include:
Planning all meals for the majority of the company over the 3-week Norfolk residency
Ordering food supplies for the daily meals and handling the luxuries orders (items that people request to be added to the frequent shops e.g drinks & sweets)
Coordinating the cooking, which may involve enlisting helpers
Maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of the communal accommodation by creating and overseeing a chore rotation to ensure all company members contribute
Serving as the head of welfare and social cohesion, which can involve appointing welfare representatives to provide feedback and keep the manager informed of any issues
While the responsibilities can be daunting, the producers (Lizzy & Matthew) will be available to provide support, especially when it comes to planning as we have experience. Overall, the Company Manager plays a vital behind-the-scenes role in keeping the show running smoothly and fostering a positive, collaborative environment for the entire company. You are the glue that binds us all together!
Paired applications for this role are welcome, but we will also consider solo applications.
Availability in Norfolk: Week 1, 2 and 3
(If splitting the role, availability of both people in week 1 is less essential)
