The 67s is looking for a CAST

The 67sCUADC
19:00, Tue 13th – Sat 17th May 2025 at Corpus Playroom
Easter Week 2

Student-written play, The 67s, is looking for a 4 person cast to bring the work to life. Set in an underground bunker in 1917, the play follows 3 young soldiers on the eve of the attack on Vimy Ridge, France, as they navigate the rollercoaster of thoughts and emotions racing through their minds ahead of this life-defining moment. The cast includes 3 soldiers of differing disposition and a Narrator. Click on this advert to find out more!

    Roles include:

Grange - A cocky comic looking to lighten the mood, Grange is a young soldier who spends a lot of his time lifting the spirits of his comrades. His comedic nature, although somewhat unintentional, is well-meaning and provides a much-needed distraction to his friends.

Goodman - More time conscious, and covertly nervous than his colleagues, Goodman laughs along whilst keeping an eye on the all-important time. As the hour progresses, so do his nerves, resulting in him serving as a consistent reminder to his friends of the potential fate which awaits them.

Cavalier - This soldier may seem pessimistic, or in many senses realistic, serving as the sensible, yet somewhat troubled member of this trio. Cavalier is a highly intelligent man, yet his intelligence often hinders his ability to communicate his true feelings. Hiding behind his worldly knowledge, Cavalier struggles to come to terms with the reality ahead.

James / Narrator - This part is multirole. James is a small part who appears in one scene. He is a messenger delivering mail to the soldiers. The primary role within this part is that of the Narrator. This play includes readings at the end of each scene which shed light on the stories of real people who experienced the First World War. The Narrator will be responsible for telling these stories, being the voice of authority throughout the play. A Canadian accent is not as important for this role.

This show will be the week 2 Corpus Playroom main show. Auditions will all be done via self-tape owing to the short timeframe between the beginning of the undergraduate NPR and the show. Auditions will be accepted until 23:59 on the 15th of April and should be sent to ecj47@cam.ac.uk.
